The journey continues....

And so I go on and it does not stop me from experiencing new things. Sometimes it takes a bump for me to realize that life goes on. I was even surprised that once I have decided to move forward and an incident happened that you may want to look back, I felt that it is better just to move on.

It is one of those cliches that you do not realize what you have until you lose it.  So true.

And sometimes things start to happen and I'm just going to enjoy it being careful not to lose myself in the process. 

And I hope to post more once I'm comfortable writing a few personal stuff.

Moving forward.....

Well, my life journey has been riddled with little bumps so the only thing to do is move forward and try not to look back. There are still a lot of interesting stuff happening and when there is exciting news to post, I will do it.

As I have posted, I'm working with a different company. I just got our Christmas party invitation and our company is flying us to our head office in Vancouver. Now, my problem is who to take as my guest.

I have an idea who and just waiting if the guest can come. I was told I should put the two names I'm thinking and pick like in a raffle. I have 3 weeks to RSVP. Will post who will be my guest....pictures at the party.

Long distance relationship

Does it work? It takes a lot more work than a normal relationship. It also depends a great deal on the commitment of the individuals involved. I really don't know if there is a difference on how far the distance is.

I believe that trust and loyalty are the two values each person needs. I know 2 people who were on long distance relationship and it worked for both of them. They are both happily married.

I on the other hand was involved in long distance relationship for 6 years and thought it would work but sadly didn't. I can say that I'm the loyal one and the other individual could not commit or be loyal. But we learn from it and we move on.

It is part of life's experiences. I was once asked what I got out of it and my reply was....lots of Aeroplan points. That is the truth!!!!

Would I do it again? It would depend a lot on what type of a person I'm getting involved with. I would be careful and maybe be more observant.

Lousy service....

Last Thursday, Janet and I decided we were going out for lunch and went to Central. We got there at 12:12pm and ordered the special.....steak sandwich. 

We have gone a lot of times when I used to work in the building. Always got good service except a few times which we complained.

Well this time, the food was ready at 12 minutes to 1:00pm. We have an hour lunch or an appointment. We did not eat the lunch. We had it packed and went back to work without lunch.

We complained and the chef said it's because one of us ordered medium well. The server told us there's a few big groups. It was not really acceptable. I have recommended this place before but not anymore. I don't think I will go back there. 

It's sad but I guess that's restaurant business. I'll find other spots. Just venting.

Happy Thanksgiving

To everyone, friends and relatives, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

This year is especially important for me to give thanks to all the blessings I have received and also for surviving a serious illness. I'm thankful for all the support and encouragement and help.

To sister for coming and visiting to help and support and encourage me.
To Carole for checking up on me and always so encouraging.
To my niece Lou for listening and just being there when I have to vent.
To Nene for making sure I can always call.
To Fanny for calling and always checking up on how I was doing.
To Marissa for all the long talks and prayers and always being there even when you yourself is going through a lot as well.

Without all your support, it would have been a more difficult recovery.
And now to RBR for understanding all the insecurities. Thank you for the laughter and some needed disagreement. Hang in there. The journey has not been all easy. The bumps have been small, thank God.

So far an exceptional year. 

Away from home

A while back, a few friends and I were talking about friends or partners who work away from home for a few days, weeks or months. We wanted to find out how the person who is left behind handles the situation.

Each has his/her way of dealing with it. One says it gives her a break if it is only for a few days. One whose kids are younger misses the help and extra hand. I really have no experience with this except one time when my ex husband had to go out of town. It was hard as our kids were still young. It was he who had a more difficult time being away.

My sister did this in her former job but she was on a long distance relationship so it was not a big deal.

 My next door neighbour is away 3 weeks at a time but he is not in a relationship. I guess you get used to it and have trust but no matter what it is not an easy situation.

I have asked a friend to guest blog about this topic.

Sloppy Hoggs

Last Friday, my friend Carole and I went to try Sloppy Hoggs restaurant. I know about this restaurant because my youngest son works here. They were featured on Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here. I saw that episode as well.

As Carole told me before getting inside the restaurant, we are here to pig out. As soon as we were seated, they realized I am the mother of one of the cooks. I was warned ahead of time that no matter what I order, I would not finish it. So we sat and decided what to order. Carole wanted ribs so we ordered one entree and shared. It came with smashed potatoes, spicy beans, corn bread. We ordered fries and coleslaw as additional sides and hush puppies for appetizers. It was generous servings.

Everything was good and service was excellent.  We would be coming back.
