Glenora Bistro...

It was stressful at work on Wednesday so an officemate and I went out to have lunch to relieve the stress. We were going to Red Robin but found out it was under renovation. We decided to go to the Elm which has the reputataion of having one of the best sandwiches in downtown but we could not get parking.

We ended up at the Glenora Bistro and hoped for the best. We were seated right away and the place was not busy. I was not sure what to order but the server explained their specials and we chose to have the fish special which is salmon and halibut with rice and vegetables.

It was well cooked and good flavour and big serving. We both ordered the same and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I am sure to go back there. Good food, good service and good atmosphere. And the price of the meal is not bad either.

So I highly recommend it and I will try brunch/breakfast there soon and I wish I can remember to take pictures next time. Anyone can google it.

It is close to the weekend, after a stressful few days, I am really looking forward to the 2 days of not being in a stressful environment.

CIBO.....

I do not do a lot of reviews especially if I have not even eaten at this place.

An office mate went to have lunch here last week and raved about the seafood chowder. I love chowders. So a friend and I went there last Friday to try the chowder. It was still early and we found the place.

They probably just opened the doors for dinner. We went in and was asked if we had reservations. The place was empty and we wondered about the question. They asked if it was table for two and they seated us. The server gave us the menu and went to get us water.

I might add that even before going in, I told my friend we are only here for the chowder. While looking at the menu, we found out they were not serving the chowder and it was only at lunch.

We started to stand up to leave the place and told them, we were only there for the chowder. The server was a bit upset and told us "Well, good luck finding seafood chowder". Well, being Friday we actually found a place with clam chowder and it was good.

I was going to say something but decided to just leave the place. Well, this is one restaurant I will tell people not to go even if someone had mentioned how good the seafood chowder is there.

That service was awful to say the least. CIBO -- two thumbs down!!! I can make my own sseafood chowder and it will probably better than yours.

A few pictures....

What a warm weekend! I enjoyed the past two days sitting on the balcony and just enjoying the warm weather. A lot of golfers across the street and cricket games going the whole weekend.

This afternoon I made strawberry margarita and had it watching the activities from my balcony. I had a chicken and bean burrito with that. I am trying to get a bit of a tan, just a bit.

Friday was a stressful day at work as it was the opening of our residential high rise and I needed a break after that. A friend picked me up and we went for dinner and as she likes to go to the casino, I went and actually won $60.00. I was playing penny machine. The old lady beside me was quite nice and she was also winning so was the old gentleman beside her. I think it was seniors night at the casino, lots of them around that night.

I was trying to be smart about it and cashed in while I was ahead.

Here are a few pictures I took at the Enjoy Centre.

Another workweek, hope it goes fast.

Goodbye landline....

It was not such a hard decision but I finally cancelled my landline and just using my cell phone. I have unlisted and unpublished number and I paid extra for that every month but lately I have been getting calls from telemarketers...as many as 6 a night. And this does not count the ones I missed while I was at work.

So last Saturday I returned the box to Shaw. I don't think I am missing anything without having a home phone. At least it is peaceful without having to hear it ringing and looking at 1-866 or whatever 800 number is calling.

I even have unlimited long distance within Canada for $10/month....a lot cheaper than what I paid for my unlimited on the home phone.

Now I am looking at my tv bundles and will try and cancel bundles I don't watch a lot. I subscribe to the movie channels but the movies are not that great lately and they show same movies at different time in different channels....like recyling them so I might cancel it later as well.

I have to call or email some friends to let them know to call my cell instead of landline. So for those of you who want to call me...call my cell and if you do not have it, email me and I will give it to you.

Enjoy the rest of the week...over the hump now.

Farmer's market...

Farmer's market for the working folks....yes that is what we will have on 124 Street starting this Thursday and going on for the rest of the summer, I hope.

It will open at 5:00 pm and close at 9:00pm. That would be great!!! And there will be food truck there as well. I do not know how many.

It is only about 10 blocks from where I am so I can walk there. I have to make sure to bring a bag or two to carry stuff I buy. I would have to watch that I don't buy a lot as that would be a long walk carrying a heavy bag.

Make sure I do not forget to take pictures as well. The only thing that is going to make it not good...it is raining and the forecast for Thursday is rain. It will be hard to drive as parking would be a real problem.

Anyway, I hope the weather changes and we can all enjoy a kind of night market.

Enjoy the short work week.

Hometown skyline....

I am a contributor to our office newsletter and I present our properties to the rest of the staff. Since our head office is in Calgary, some of them have not seen our buildings in person.

I try to google to see if there is any kind of history about a certain building and when I was looking for news item, I saw this picture of the Edmonton downtown skyline.

That was the time I realized it is a nice kind of skyline and uploaded a picture of it. It might not be as good as New York or some other big cities but I thought it was ok and neat for a small city.

So there it is, downtown Edmonton skyline.

Enjoy Centre....

Today, a friend and I went to the Enjoy Centre in St. Albert. This is the new Hole's Greenhouse but with all different kinds of addition. We went there just to check it out.

Besides being a greenhouse, there is a bakery, deli, wine/liquor store, grocery, home/gift shop, spa, restaurant, furniture store, kitchen tools store and a few more stores.

We went to the greenhouse and saw all kinds of exotic plants, magnolia, banana, bouganvilla, and a lot more. They have an automated hanging plant area where the pots are hung and moves in line and you can check and inspect which pot you like and pick it.

The bakery is good with all kinds of offerings. I bought a rosemary and onion baguette and a regular small french bread which I will use to make french toast.

I also got red Hawaiian sea salt and saw the Mediterrenean blue sea salt which I will get next. time. I have this small collection of salt.

It was a nice place to see and browse on a weekend when there is nothing else to do. I only took a few pictures, I would suggest to google it and there are lots of things to see.

Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend.
