That's the question. I have just realized how long since I last posted. I really do not have an excuse or reason. I have been busy both at work and at home. I have done a lot of baking and I have a really good cinnamon buns recipe. I have baked them two weekends in a row.
Last night I baked two loaves of bread as I realized we have no bread at home. Then this morning made french toast. On Super Bowl Sunday, I made pok pok wings which turned out really well.
Next I am going to try hawaiian buns which I have eaten while visiting my sister in San Jose. I have googled recipes and I think that's the one I will try next weekend. Since it will be a long weekend for us here in Alberta, I will be baking a lot. I have ordered cinnamon from my sister.
At work, it has been busy as they had let go my assistant and we have more properties to. manage. I hope the recruiting agency finds one soon.
The weather the past week had been nasty cold. I guess I should not complain as we had really warm weather and will get warmer again in a few days.
Thanks for stopping by.
This is a journal of what is happening in my life, things I want to do, places I want to visit or have just visited, new and old experiences/adventures, people I have met and who have made a difference in my life, thoughts, ideas and dreams.
My struggles, disappointments, failures and successes. This is my world, my life and you're welcome to share it.

A Time to Remember
Today is a special day to remember all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we could live freely and enjoy the safe life. These are men, women, fathers, mothers and children.
I have nephews who served in Canadian and US military. I am embarrassed that I have just taken for granted what sacrifice they gave so we can be free. The one time I was involved was when one nephew who was a medic in the U.S. Navy was missing in Iraq. We had to pray so he will be found safely. Fortunately for him he was found safe and is now retired. Krishna, I salute and admire your courage to serve.
A friend of mine in my building was engaged to be married to a guy who served in the Canadian Army. I even saw him when he left for his mission. One day I was reading a magazine article about guys who did not make it back. Only when they mentioned the name of the fiancee did I realize he did not make it back.
Today, there is a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant serving in Afghanistan who I know. I have always told him how much I admire his service. I'm happy to hear he would be returning back home before Christmas and he will retire after. So to Staff Sergeant Frank....we thank you and pray you will be safely home soon.
To all who gave the ultimate sacrifice, I thank and admire all of you.

Cafe Amore Bistro
My friend Carole took me to dinner for my birthday at this restaurant on Saturday. I didn't know where she was taking me until I got into her vehicle.
I read about this place from Avenue Magazine. So I came in knowing it would be good food and hoping the service will be as well.
We got there a bit behind our reservation time and was seated right away and greeted by the owner. Carole has been here before for lunch and it's my first time. We ordered bruschetta for appetizer and they were good. I had Amore Spritzer cocktail for my drink and it was good.
For the main I ordered the special which was bone marrow with mushroom. It came and I started to eat and found it too salty. I tried to eat more but I just could not handle how salty it was. When the server asked how was it, I had to be honest and told her. She took it and asked the chef of they c.f. would make it a little less salty. In the end I just ordered a different pasta. They were really nice about it. They took it off our bill. I was ok with just another order but I admire them for handling it differently.
I still would go back just because of the service. They even said I put too much cheese but I know it was really salty in the first place. I'm not used to salty food because of my hypertension. I would rather that diners be able to add salt to the food.
Overall, very excellent service and the pasta I ordered later was very good. I would recommend it to my friends.

The journey continues....
And so I go on and it does not stop me from experiencing new things. Sometimes it takes a bump for me to realize that life goes on. I was even surprised that once I have decided to move forward and an incident happened that you may want to look back, I felt that it is better just to move on.
It is one of those cliches that you do not realize what you have until you lose it. So true.
And sometimes things start to happen and I'm just going to enjoy it being careful not to lose myself in the process.
And I hope to post more once I'm comfortable writing a few personal stuff.
This will be short. Thanks for stopping by.

Moving forward.....
Well, my life journey has been riddled with little bumps so the only thing to do is move forward and try not to look back. There are still a lot of interesting stuff happening and when there is exciting news to post, I will do it.
As I have posted, I'm working with a different company. I just got our Christmas party invitation and our company is flying us to our head office in Vancouver. Now, my problem is who to take as my guest.
I have an idea who and just waiting if the guest can come. I was told I should put the two names I'm thinking and pick like in a raffle. I have 3 weeks to RSVP. Will post who will be my guest....pictures at the party.

Long distance relationship
Does it work? It takes a lot more work than a normal relationship. It also depends a great deal on the commitment of the individuals involved. I really don't know if there is a difference on how far the distance is.
I believe that trust and loyalty are the two values each person needs. I know 2 people who were on long distance relationship and it worked for both of them. They are both happily married.
I on the other hand was involved in long distance relationship for 6 years and thought it would work but sadly didn't. I can say that I'm the loyal one and the other individual could not commit or be loyal. But we learn from it and we move on.
It is part of life's experiences. I was once asked what I got out of it and my reply was....lots of Aeroplan points. That is the truth!!!!
Would I do it again? It would depend a lot on what type of a person I'm getting involved with. I would be careful and maybe be more observant.

Lousy service....
Last Thursday, Janet and I decided we were going out for lunch and went to Central. We got there at 12:12pm and ordered the special.....steak sandwich.
We have gone a lot of times when I used to work in the building. Always got good service except a few times which we complained.
Well this time, the food was ready at 12 minutes to 1:00pm. We have an hour lunch or an appointment. We did not eat the lunch. We had it packed and went back to work without lunch.
We complained and the chef said it's because one of us ordered medium well. The server told us there's a few big groups. It was not really acceptable. I have recommended this place before but not anymore. I don't think I will go back there.
It's sad but I guess that's restaurant business. I'll find other spots. Just venting.
