124 blocks.....

That is the number of city blocks I walked last week. I have decided to walk to work and I started last week. It was nice and a good exercise. I am continuing it this week as well and maybe all summer long.

What a busy weekend...I cleaned my balcony and I am happy that the pigeons are not perching on my balcony ledge. I think the loud music is keeping them away so I will leave my radio blasting loud music while I am at work.

The markets are opening this week. There will be one close to my block which will be on Thursdays and will be open into the night..could be till 9:00 pm. And the Saturday one which is in the central downtown and I can still walk to that one. It is nice to get some really fresh produce and home made breads, jams, pickles and other stuff.

My chairs are in the balcony now and I can sit out there and read. My son is getting a barbecue for me as mother's day gift so it will be nice to be able to barbecue. I have not decided if I will plant vegetables this time since there will be the markets opening soon.

The weather has been really great...warm and a lot of golfers in the driving range across the street.
Another work week.....and a long weekend coming up.

Mother's Day....

To all the mothers out there.....Happy Mother's Day. I hope you enjoy this day and that you get the royal treatment from your loved ones.

It could be breakfast in bed, brunch in a nice restaurant, barbecue, flowers or any other way they see fit to honour the mothers out there.

I think I will be getting a small barbecue for my balcony. I hope so.

This will be a short post. Have a great weekend!!!

The winner is.....

I said the winner would be Chris or Jermaine. And Jermaine won. I think his performance last week is what made people vote for him. I chose Javier last year too.

Now I would have Monday nights free unless America's Got Talent works out to be good. But I do not like Howard Stern at all and can't stand him so I will most likely not watch it this time.

I would rather go for a walk or do laundry than watch him.

It is almost midweek, how time flies. It was another warm day and a bit cooler than yesterday. I almost wanted to stop by Ssecond Cup to get a cold drink and sip it while walking home.

I just noticed that there is a noodle house opening 3 blocks from me and they would be selling bubble tea. That would be a place I would frequent to try different flavours. I hope they open soon.

The performances of the two singers I like.

The Voice.....

It was a good show and all four deserve to be there. But I think it is between Jermaine and Chris.
I will be surprised if it is one of the other two but then again I could be wrong.

It will be exciting tonight. I was switching between The Voice and DWTS. They have more shows before the finals.

And then there will be America's Got Talent and Duets which is a new show. I will watch the first shows and see if they are interesting and go from there.

The weather here has turned really nice. I walked yesterday and on the way home it was too hot. I have noticed that the outdoor patios of most restaurants were open and people drinking cold drinks more than coffee.

I am sure the driving range across from me will be full this afternoon.

If you have warm day like us, enjoy....it might turn nasty again.....

What's baking?.....

I have not posted anything I have baked or cooked lately. Mainly because I forgot to take pictures which is such a problem.

So the last week or so I have baked a new banana muffins recipe and corn bread which is a lot better than the corn muffins recipe I got a while back which is quite dry. I also made banana toffee tart for our pot luck at work last week. The tart turned out really well. Another thing I made two weeks ago for an impromptu party was mini croissant stuffed with dill cream cheese and smoked salmon. The croissants I bought at Save-On and they just came out of the oven.

Of which now I shop early in the morning on the weekend and the baked goods are just coming out. This morning I bought bagels, hotdog buns and unsliced loaf of bread for french toast.

The banana muffins was so easy to make and came out really moist. The only problem is that I am back on my diet. This will be my last one before seeing my doctor next month.

I hope he does not put me on insulin as I am petrified of needles.

As you can see I have already sliced the cornbread when I thought of taking pictures.

A tray of banana muffins. They were really moist and so easy to make.

Food....

This is from the previous post I did about Johnny Reid where I mentioned the food at Rexall. Place. I understand they are fast food item but my complaint is how salty the food was.

I had the chili french fries. They salted the fries and then put on the chili which was so salty, my tongue was sore and then there was the cheese sauce.

I don't know if they ever taste them but I think they should. I did not finish it, just ate the fries which were not smothered with the chili. Next time, I will get popcorn, of which my son said is the only one he gets whenever he is at Rexall.

Next, we went to Koi which is the new Japanese restaurant on the 149 Street shopping area. It used to be Moshi, Moshi which was good and inexpensive. Well, Koi serves the same kind of menu except double the price of the old place and again the food was salty.

I have not experienced really salty Japanese food....will never go back there. Will not pay the price they are charging either so another lesson learned.

Another bad experience was Le Shish at Mayfield Common. I was telling the waitress, I wanted grilled and she explained the chicken shwarma was and not dry and I should have just ordered the kebabs. I only ate a bit although they were willing to give me another dish but after that I just did not feel like eating anymore from there.

Just a bit of ranting about restaurant expereince. Maybe I should just go where I am sure the food is good/great.

Almost Friday...enjoy the weekend.u
