He was born 31 years ago today but sadly he is no longer with us.

A very sad news.......
The past week had been such a sad week.
When I started my new job six months ago, the first staff member to really welcome me was one of our building operators. It was in February and I remember him and his red and black leather and suede jacket.
He would come to work early and would always give me a hug. My desk became the pit stop for candies and other kinds of munchies as the one before me had started it. Everyone would stop by and grab whatever is the snack for that day or days.
One time my blood sugar was down and I needed to have something sweet and there was none left at all and there was nothing in the kitchen. An office mate had an orange and she gave it to me.
The next morning feeling guilty, he was at the office early and I had arrived and he told me that he just wanted to give me something and he put two small packages of candies in my hand and told me to hide it.
He is so helpful and understanding and I really appreciated all the help. This week I found out he had a stroke and so I went to visit him in the hospital. There I gave him a hug and he looked so different. He had a hard time speaking and was so frustrated at his difficulty of trying to speak and to think of what to say. I brought him cookies. When I asked him if his son has visited, he started to cry and it was hard to console him. When we left to go, he was in tears and was holding on to my hand.
On Friday, one of the guys visited him at the hospital and when he got back to the office, I was told that he has brain and lung cancer and that he was asking for me and my cookies.
So I went to see him again Friday after work and when we were ready to go, he started to cry again and it was so hard to leave him. He does not have family in the city. I brought him more cookies and sweet and told him we will be back to visit.
It is so hard to see a man who I have seen so strong before crying and I hope that his faith is strong. I don't know how long he has but I hope that he is not pain.
God bless you, Dwayne.

End of the visit......
My cousin left today to go back up North. We had a really wonderful and enjoyable visit. Today, we went to church and I have always wanted to try the Chinese Catholic Church 2 blocks away from my place. So off we go and when we got there, it looks like a nice little church.
A while back while walking I had noticed that they had English service and so we went but I was completely wrong with regards to the time. I thought the 11:00 am was the English one but it was the earlier one. So we sat there and it was part English and Cantonese. It was a very different experience.
Next time I will go to the earlier service.
After that it was time to take her to catch the shuttle bus to the airport.
I took her to Enjoy which I had posted before but this time, I took a lot more pictures. I will post it later.
Now back to the grind. I am already looking forward to the weekend as this had been a busy 10 days for me and a stressful week at work as well.

Another movie......another visit....
I have not gone to see movies in a while and now that my cousin is here, I have seen another movie with her. We were in St. Albert and decided to see Bourne Legacy. We were interested because it was filmed partly in the Philippines.
It was exciting but I would rather have Matt Damon in the movie.
We also visited my godmother who I have not seen in a long time. She had planted tomatoes this year and I picked the first 2 almost ripe to bring home.
I am going out with a friend from my old workplace and we will go shopping and have dinner. I hope to remember to take pictures.
This week has been so stressful at work and I am glad it is almost the weekend. I visited the lovely ladies of Laidley at lunchtime today to pick up bread and butter pickles made by Louise's mom. I really love those home made pickles. I am set for a few months. Thanks Weezie!!! And it was nice seeing the ladies again.

Busy with guest.....
It has been very busy at work and the weather has been lousy with thundershowers and today heavy rains. I have a cousin attending a conference and she is staying with me.
She arrived on Friday and we had been to the casino with a friend who I think is addicted to gambling. I played and won $62.00. Of course I cashed out right away, I am not one to keep on playing. I quit while I am ahead.
Saturday we went to the farmers market and bought spicy peanuts, cinnamon buns (big) and the lightest whole wheat loaf that was so good. I also bought eggplants, green beans, and farm raised brown eggs, spinach and nut and fruit fudge which was a bit too expensive.
Sunday we watched Hope Springs, it was ok but I was not really impressed, the trailer looked good but it was a bit boring and dragging at some parts.
She wanted to get duvet cover and drapes and we got that at Walmart.
Monday and Tuesday, she hitched a ride with me and walked to the conference centre which is not too far from my office. We are still planning on doing more stuff.
It was fun having her around.
