View from the top.......

My home has a really nice view and I have been lucky that in my new work place, I also have great view. I am not really high up, just the 8th floor but the view is nice.

That is my view when I am sitting....just look straight and that is what I see. We are building an apartment and that is the staging area.

If I look to the left this is what I see.

This is what I see if I look to my far right.

Lovely ladies of Laidley

No, this is not a title of a new tv show. This is a post of the ladies where I worked and it was an all female staff.

There is L who was the first one I met since she was at the reception desk. She was supportive and always offering to help or telling me it will be ok..

J is the one I had to ask a lot because she was doing the same job I had and she knows a lot of the people in the business. We had fun with our secret communication in that small space between our privacy partition.

Z is the person I worked the closest as we were close by and discussed a lot about our families and food and some little secrets.

PC is the early bird like me and who had the unfortunate luck of having to deal with Shaw and Telus, she gave me good ideas and suggestions.

PS is the most senior having worked there for over 30 years I think and gave me honest and really good advice and I listened to it and took the advice seriously.

E is my invoice buddy as together we hunted for invoices and also my eating buddy, we tried to eat different foods at different places.

C is my diet buddy and shoppping partner....the person who understood a lot of my frustration. I think I heard these words from her a lot...I know, I know.

S is the quiet one and we are worried about the most. I like it when she ate a lot during our trip to the buffet restaurant

M is the new one and I am just beginning to really know her. She came on my last week there

N is the boss....what can I say...um...honestly....I did not like the Italian lunch as I am not a sandwich person.

So there they are...I come and do my V and V with them. Visit and Vent. To all you ladies....I had fun working with all of you and thank you for everything. That was fun....

Johnny Reid....Who?

Yes, that was what my son asked me when I told him I was invited to see a concert. I have not heard of him either until now.

So last Thursday, off we go and drove to Rexall Centre, home of the Oilers, who did not do well this year so was not in the play offs......oops that is another topic.

We parked and went to the lobby and waited 45 minutes for the doors to open. There were cops there who was saying there will be more than 10,000 fans there......I guess 9,999 that would be minus 1, me.
Cops for what...I have not heard of riot like incident in any C&W concert, it is not a rock concert where we have heard all kinds of things happenings. Oh, now I will hear from hard core rock concert goers.

Fans were talking and asking if we had been to any of his concert and I wanted to say, I have not even heard of him.

When the doors opened, there was a lady behind me, a robust lady who was pushing me. And I am sure I did not move my tiny legs but it seemed like I moved up to the door without much effort on my part.
I was apologizing to the ladies in front of me that I am being pushed from behind.

And may I ask why push----when we all have tickets with seat numbers. So finally we got in and got food to eat as we were hungry. Food at Rexall Centre....that would be a blog of itself, just a clue.....nasty and horrendous food.

The opening act was a local lady from Westlock, Alberta. I am sure country fans have heard of her. She had a really good voice.

Then they announced the guy...Johnny Reid. He comes out in red pants, white shoes, black shirt and white blaxer. He started the first few words and screaming and there was one lady behind us who was just shouting and screaming his name. I am thinking this could be the most famous song of his. But what do I know, I have never heard any of his songs. So he moves around to the audience and he has good interaction with them.

I was curious when the band first came out, he has a horn section which was the first I have seen but then again I do not watch C&W concert. So more screaming and then a change of clothes, no just the shoes and blazer...this time black.

He was nice enough to thank his fans for coming out to support him and buying tickets with their hard earned money. He does all kinds of charity work, supporting Stollery which is children's hospital with cancer.

It was a good concert but he does not sound country....more like rock and roll. A good experience but hard way to enjoy when I don't know his songs at all. But that is my fault....I do not listen to country radio station though I know the really big country stars.

And he is from Canada of a Scottish descent. That is even better..

Annoying pigeons....

For whatever reason, the pigeon problem in the downtown area is getting really bad. I have tried all kinds of ways trying to get those nasty creatures away from my balcony. I am almost to the point of getting a bb gun and start shooting.

I know the owl or any other kinds of animals do not work, now spraying of WD 40 and rice. I know we can't poison them but they are really becoming a nuisance. I know in my old place of work, the problem there is so bad that they must have done all kinds of ways to get rid of them/ The noise thing works for a while.

Today, they just keep resting on the ledge of my balcony so I finally opened my bedroom window about a foot wide and put my clock radio there and played the radio, quite loud I may add and they seem to stay away from my balcony.

So tomorrow before I go to work, I will do the same thing and see what happens. I have monitored it today and they came once so I cranked up the volume and I never saw them at all after that.

I don't care if the next door neighbour can hear the music, at least it was on a nice radio station and they play top 40 which is the kind of music that is a bit loud which is what I want.

Easter Monday.....

For the first time in a long while I have to work today. What a bummer!!! I had a quiet Easter Sunday.

I went shopping with a friend and bought things for our office potluck this Wednesday. I am making some kind of noodle dish.

For Easter dinner, we had ribeye steaks with mushrooms, baked potato, asparagus, and coleslaw. And for dessert, I made strawberry cheesecake and I made the strawberry sauce from all the strawberries I have bought when they were good price and used them for my sauce and it turned out really good.

As usual, I forgot to take pictures. Maybe I can still take a picture of a slice of the cheesecake and post later.

This will be a short post and I am off to work.... Hope the weather will be sunny and warm.

Winter comes and goes.....

Gosh, what a day!!!! I washed my vehicle and did not realize there will be snow storm like condition the next day. I woke up and it was snowing heavily. It was bad once I drove out of our underground parking. And to add to the misery, there were intersections were the lights were down and it was like 4 way stop everywhere.

My regular route was nasty as there were tree branches down and cars were sliding back down on this hilly back street to the office parkade.

Thank God, it stopped after lunch time and the streets were cleared of snow and easy drive home.
I had a scan appointment and was ready to take the LRT but did not have to.

I am glad it is a long weekend and I will sleep in for sure. I have no idea what to prepare for Easter, maybe just buy/order something.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Glasses......

Ever since I had my eye surgery on both eyes, I have started to wear reading glasses and there is not a lot of choices out there.

So from time to time I am on the look out for nice pair of reading glasses. 250 is my prescription and it is one of the hard ones to get.

I have seen a lot but not too many nice ones of 250. Luckily when I was in San Jose, my sister and I found 2 pairs and they were really funky.

Her mother-in-law found some and bought them for me. Thank you very much. I am still looking for a few nice ones. I would like to have a round one, and white frame with some kind of print on it.

Here is what I have so far....

24 hours....

On Saturday, I woke up and it was such a nice day. I looked out my balcony and this is what I saw.

A few hours later the driving range was so full and everyone was out with flip flops on and just light jackets. What a nice day.

24 hours later Sunday morning, this is what I saw out of my balcony.

My gosh, winter was back and was so disappointing. By mid afternoon, the snow has melted again and I went out to meet my niece's daughter wearing flip flops again.

And I guess tomorrow it will be rain or maybe snow again.

It is only April and I guess all kinds of things can still happen.
